The Story
Buddycall® was created and designed by Wayne Smith, a Californian now residing in Auckland, New Zealand. Mr. Smith first came up the idea while sailing with his wife from California to New Zealand. Diving is their passion and during their travels they dove many of the atolls and islands of the South Pacific. On these dives he realized what they needed was to develop a signaling device that wasn’t dependent on a persons air supply, having to be simple, handy, and user friendly.
Buddycall is the result of Wayne’s idea. Mr. Smith comments, "I wanted a design that was tough, compact, and ergonomic. Of course it also had to work well and it does. It's loud enough to be heard at a good distance, but not so loud to be uncomfortable for the wearer. People’s diving experience will be far more pleasurable and safe with Buddycall."
